Overview

Anu is a memory-first companion app. This policy explains what Anu stores, what is sent to backend services, and what control you have over your data.

What Anu Stores

Messages you send and replies generated in the app
Photos you choose to share with Anu
Memory summaries and memory events generated from your conversations and photos
Sign in with Apple identifiers needed to recognize your app account
Subscription and trial status used to enforce access and limits

Where Data Lives

Anu is designed as a local-first app.

Your messages, memories, and photo files are stored primarily on your device.
Anu uses a lightweight backend to protect API keys, enforce plan limits, and normalize billing and sign-in state.
Text and photo prompts are sent to third-party AI model providers through OpenRouter only when needed to generate a response.

How Anu Uses Information

Respond to what you share in chat
Remember people, pets, moments, and recurring themes you want Anu to hold onto
Enforce trial, subscription, and daily usage limits
Support Sign in with Apple and restore-purchases flows

What Anu Does Not Do

Anu does not sell your data.
Anu does not use your data for advertising.
Anu is not a therapist, doctor, or emergency service.

Retention and Deletion

Your local chat history, photos, and memories remain on your device until you delete them, delete your account in the app, or remove the app.
If you choose Delete Account in the app, Anu clears local data on-device and removes the app's backend account records tied to that install.
Apple subscription records remain managed by Apple under your Apple ID.

Children

Anu is not directed to children under 13.

Changes

If this Privacy Policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this same URL.
